Goals:

This is the second semester of a course on the mathematics needed for K-8 teaching. This semester concentrates of mostly geometry and measurement. The emphasis is on establishing a solid knowledge of elementary mathematics. But the course also involves other mathematical aspects of "teacher knowledge", including (i) how to present the material in simple, clear ways, (ii) the appropriate sequential order for developing mathematics skills, and (iii) what the students will find difficult and what errors they are likely to make, and (iv) how each topic helps advance the mathematical level of the students.

Prerequite and content: Math 201. The structure of the course, the expectations, and the grading scheme are similar to those of Math 201 and are described in the course outlines for Section 1, Section 2, and Section 3.
