Please note the following:
The Gateway Exam will close Friday, 4/11 at 2:30PM.
- Make sure that you record yourname, section number and student number properly, on the correct sign-up sheet when taking the test to ensure that you are given the credit for a passing score.
- Your ID must be on your desk at all times while taking the test!
- If there is not enough time left, the monitors administering the test may elect not to give the test. The ending times are the times when the TESTS WILL END, NOT the latest time to start a test.
- These classrooms don't have a lot of room, so there might be a waiting time if a large number of students show up all at once. We will try to accommodate all of you as quickly as possible. No student can take more than 30 minutes on a test. Tests can be repeated until they are passed but the same test may not be taken twice on the same day. Please don't wait until the last minute to take them.
- CALCULATORS and/or notes are NOT ALLOWED during the test and nothing which requires a calculator is asked. Students are NOT ALLOWED to resume a test if they have to leave the room. Any use of a calculator during a test will result in immediate termination of the test, and the paper will NOT be graded!
- Tests will be graded by the monitors as soon as possible after the test is handed
in. If the monitor is not otherwise busy, tests may be graded and returned right
away. Students can always return later in the day, or the next day to pick up their
graded paper.
NOTE: When you pick up your graded test, look at it carefully before leaving the room. A student who does not believe that a paper is graded correctly MUST NOT remove the paper from the presence of the monitor. Point out to the monitor what you think the grading error is, and the monitor will refer the situation to the faculty supervisor. So, you may need to leave the test. No appeals on the grading will be considered if a student has taken their test out of the testing room. Questions over grading will be referred to a faculty supervisor.
- It is not advisable to wait until the last minute to take a gateway exam, as it is possible you will need to take the exam more than once in order to pass. In addition, the number of students wanting to take the exam may increase as time goes on.
- Keep cool! Remember, you can take this test as often as needed!
