Area of Focus: INTEGRATED ANALYSIS OF GENETIC AND CELLULAR NETWORKS

This program will provide participating undergraduate intense training and research experience at the intersection of mathematical and biological sciences.

The program will prepare students for careers in biotechnology industries, (mathematical biology, medicine and life sciences.) research centers, and educational institutes in medicine or mathematical sciences.

Successful applicants will receive financial support throughout the training period : Fall 08, Spring 09, Summer 09, Fall 09, Spring 10.

Eligibility: :

  1. Major in Mathematical Sciences (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Sciences) OR in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, etc.)
  2. Freshman or Sophomore status as of Spring Semester 08
  3. U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Prerequisites:

  1. Two-semesters calculus or equivalent;
  2. One-semester basic statistics;
  3. One-semester course in basic biology or equivalent.

Financial Support:

Each successful applicant will receive a stipend of $1,000 for the first semester and those selected to continue will receive $1,200 for each of three subsequent semesters and $3,500 for a summer term during the training period.
