Cycling

The bike that I have pedalled the most is an early 70's Fuji Special Tourer road bike (photo). Since 2002 I have been riding a Trek 4900. Whenever I have time I ride for sports, Lansing area is nice for that purpose. There are few roads with bike lanes and also along the river there is a pretty long river trail connecting MSU campus to downtown Lansing.

The photo on the right was taken in June 2001 while I was in Gokova, Turkey biking with Onur on dirt roads. The traffic can't go fast and doesn't exist much.

Trails

Here's a link to PDF maps showing which roads are calm for biking in the metropolitan Lansing area.

Some trails / roads I like to cycle:

River Trail: Between MSU campus and Lansing, this is a trail of about 6 miles, no difficulty (except one steep hill), but lots of joggers, skaters, ... (more info: environmental journalism, last item on page)

College Rd: This road starts from the south of MSU campus (near the Pavillion / ovservatory) and carries a good amount of bike traffic. There are some roads with bike lanes connected to College Road, and I haven't made through all of them yet.
