Trail Half Marathon Running in Pinckney Recreation Area is a lot of fun. The half marathon is run on a trail which forms a loop and climbs few hills. I almost fell during the first mile, but recovered quickly. Dave went faster, I met Dan around mile 7, ran few miles with him, but eventually I slowed down and finished the 13.1 miles of trails in 2:06:04. Photo: Dave, Yael, Dan, Steve. Results were posted at runmichigan.net.

Dinosaur Dash 5k: For me this was the season's first race, and I finished in 22:45. Jim Hicks finished also with the same running time, but due to ChampionChip timing, we didn't cross the finish line at the same time. Dina also ran well, improving her previous time. Results were posted in playmakers.com. You can view the course map.

Kékes Csúcsfutás 11.6k: This is a hill climb race near Budapest, Hungary. The altitute changes by about 671 meters, and I don't remember a single downhill. Akos got me into this race and I enjoyed it a lot. It took me 1:14:39 to arrive at the top, and the view was breathtaking! There's a big stone painted with Hungary's flag's colors, and people were kissing that stone, might be the highest point nearby.

CRIM Festival of Races 10mile: This has been the most crowded race that I have run. The male winner ran a mile at 4:44 on average! Training in Lansing area, I wasn't expecting the slopes which added to the challenge. Throughout the course there was a huge crowd cheering and already celebrating with beer. I reached mile 5 at 35:55 and ended up finishing at 1:15:28, and the camera I held in my hand kept working despite the sweat. Results were posted in runmichigan.

Lincoln Races 10k: I did the 10k, also there was the option to run a 5k, but to do both, you had to run the 10k below WR. There were 70 people who did the 10k and I became 12th overall with a time of 39:41.7 (first time below 40mins). Results were posted in playmakers.com.

Lake Lansing Labor Day 8k: Nice landscape, and nice options: you can run 8k, and 5k afterwards (if you can, I couldn't make it). It was 13:03 when I crossed the 2 mile sign, and ended up at 33:34.2 becoming the 25th overall among 74 male, 29 female participants. Marco pushed me again and again from half way on till the end, and Bob (wearing blue shirt) kept a distance with me at the last half. I was amazed with Patrick, I don't know how he caught up with me, I had to put everything in me to keep my place. Results were posted in playmakers.com.

Grand Woods 5k: A nice cross country run along and around a golf course near Lansing. I did the first mile in 6:09, second in 12:47, finished 5k in 21:02. After second mile I had no hope of keeping up with John, who became second in his age group. Results were posted in runmichigan.com.

Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail: Starting from Park City, Utah, this is a railroad turned into a trail for runners / bikers / horeseback riders. Pretty flat, said to be 28 miles long, but I couldn't make it to the end!

Mountain Challenge Trail Run: Annual event, either 5K (steeper) or 10K. More than 170 participants, from the PCMI math event John Arner, Dave Brandau, Ryota Matsuura and John Shae participated the 5K, Ollie Nanyes (right photo) and I did the 10K option. Starts from Deer Valley Snow park logde, climbs up to Silver lake lodge (about 1900 feet) and comes back. It took me 51:35, fun to run (after getting exhausted by the first steep climbs). Ran most of the last couple miles with Ollie.
