Automorphisms of the Complex of
Separating Curves in Genus 3

(This is joint work with Bill Vautaw.) In their paper, "Commensurations of the Johnson kernel", Brendle-Margalit proved that every automorphism of the complex of separating curves, C_s(S), of a closed oriented surface S of genus at least 4 is induced by a self-homeomorphism of S. In this series of talks, we outline a proof of the same statement for a closed oriented surface S of genus 3, which proof can be adapted to genus at least 3.
