About the Olympiad
The
Olympiad competition is an
exam consisting of five challenging problems requiring only the mathematics
appropriate for students' grade level. Participants are divided into three
groups: Grades 5-6, Grades 7-9, and Grades 10-12
and given three hours to write solutions to these problems. Participation
is free and open to all students interested in mathematics. The top three
winners in each group will get prizes.
The
Award Ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on the day of the exam in Room A304, Wells Hall. During the Award Ceremony
solutions of the problems will be given.
The
problems given in previous years are posted below.
The
Olympiad is conducted by the MSU Mathematics Department. You may contact us at mshapiro@math.msu.edu.
